YUASA LAUNCHES NEW CARGO SERIES AUTOMOTIVE BATTERIES FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLE APPLICATIONS
Yuasa Battery has launched its new Cargo range of automotive batteries that is designed to handle the ever-increasing power demands of modern commercial vehicles and is equipped to deal with all situations and environments.
Yuasa Cargo is a range of fifteen 12V automotive batteries offering capacities from 110 to 200Ah (at 20h rate) that covers most CV applications including trucks, agricultural and plant equipment and passenger service vehicles. Yuasa designed the Cargo series to manage the increasing demands placed on the batteries by the modern commercial vehicle. Cargo batteries offer market leading performance and, most importantly, peace of mind for vehicle operators.
Batteries in the Cargo range are designed specifically to meet the exacting requirements of the commercial vehicle market. Today’s CV batteries require greater power and cycling ability to cope with the increased array of electrical equipment used in these vehicles - a modern sleeper cab will typically need to run televisions, satellite receivers, microwaves, nightlights and refrigerators among other things. Repeated overnight use of such equipment followed by an engine start in the morning means that it is critical for the fitted battery to be able to cope with these extreme conditions.
All Yuasa Cargo batteries conform to the relevant section of EN50342:2006 for maintenance free characteristics (LWL - low water loss) meaning that, when used in approved vehicle applications that operate in normal conditions, it is not necessary to add water to the battery.
Cargo batteries are maintenance possible, not impossible so that water levels can be topped up if water loss does occur. Excess water loss can occur in many circumstances, among the most common being charging system faults, prolonged operation in hot climates and excessive off-vehicle charging.
Yuasa has struck a careful balance between lower density thinner plates for optimum starting performance and thicker plates for cyclic durability. This optimum design was developed by taking into account extensive commercial vehicle fleet trials and Yuasa’s global market experience.
