last 12 months restructuring its UK operations embarking
on an intelligent integration program. For the automotive
business, the focus has been on range and brand rationalization
and Supply Chain and Distribution efficiencies. Yuasa
Battery Sales (UK) Ltd now specializes in distributing
a full automotive product range from its 28 manufacturing
sites around the world to its key distributors in a
carefully structured way. With fewer brands, a rationalized
range and a streamlined but effective team, Yuasa can
now focus all of its efforts on providing the UK market
place with the most technologically advanced OE batteries,
backed by a comprehensive marketing and customer support
program. Yuasa is now the leading battery supplier to
the UK aftermarket and offers unrivalled service and
availability.
The Market
Recent press
coverage has shown that demand is outstripping supply
within the UK. However Yuasa has worked very closely
with its customers to ensure that the right stock and
mix is in place for the forthcoming season and this
proved to be very successful last year. The addition
of the new battery charging facility in their South
Wales plant uniquely allows Yuasa to manage increased
changes in demand at very short notice, as stocks of
“green batteries” can be finished ensuring
a continuous fresh supply of new product. There have
been several drivers behind the rationalisation of the
Yuasa range, prompted by the demands of the aftermarket
consumer – less confusion, control of costs,
year-round availability, customer choice –
to name but a few !

New Range
The new range
of Yuasa automotive batteries now covers 99% of applications
in the UK vehicle parc and is spearheaded by the new
Leakproof battery - 'Elite'.
This new battery features a recondensing, double lid
design that exceeds the latest German OEM Tip/Tilt
acid safety standards for electrolyte leakage under
extreme conditions as defined to the OEM standards.
The range features a completely new image and livery
designed in conjunction with the Yuasa Industrial Division
giving a consistent image and style throughout all of
Yuasa’s product ranges.
Yuasa is already the leading Brand in the UK and Europe
for Industrial batteries and the leading international
brand for Motorcycle batteries. With the automotive
brand now being a key part of the family, it completes
the multi-product offering from Yuasa.

The launch of
