YUASA TO SHOW QUALITY RANGE OF AUTOMOTIVE & MOTORCYCLE BATTERIES AT AUTOMECHANIKA 2008 FRANKFURT
Yuasa Battery is exhibiting its comprehensive range of high quality automotive and motorcycle batteries at the forthcoming Automechanika 2008 exhibition from 16th to 21st September, Messe Frankfurt, Germany.
Yuasa’s automotive batteries are rapidly gaining a reputation in the aftermarket for proven battery performance plus the reliability that is expected from one of the world’s largest lead acid battery manufacturers. Yuasa is showing its entire automotive product line encompassing the Elite, Professional, Cargo, Cargo HD, Classic and LeisureLine ranges that together meet the needs of the automotive aftermarket.
Yuasa Elite is a range of six 12V automotive batteries offering capacities from 47 to 95Ah that covers approximately 80% of cars and light vans in the UK. Elite batteries exceed the majority of OEM battery safety and performance standards, delivering optimum performance in all conditions.
The new Elite batteries feature the most advanced battery technology available on the market today, containing additional premium active material to deliver superior performance and greatly increased service life compared to conventional batteries.
The Elite’s lid design meets and exceeds the latest German OEM safety standards for acid leakage under extreme conditions. These stringent standards require that batteries can withstand acid leakage when upside down for a minimum of 30 minutes when “off charge” and a minimum of 2 minutes whilst receiving a charge. Many newer vehicles have the battery fitted inside the passenger compartment, usually under the rear seat or in the boot. In the event of an accident where a vehicle rolls onto its side or roof, conventional batteries will immediately begin leaking acid into the passenger compartment which can be extremely hazardous to the vehicle occupants. Design of the Elite series batteries prevents such leakage in these situations.
Yuasa Professional is a range of forty-three 12V automotive batteries offering capacities from 26 to 90Ah that covers over 99% of cars and light vans in the UK and delivers optimum performance in all conditions. Yuasa’s global relationships with OEMs and experience in the aftermarket have been put to good use to create a range of batteries that harnesses the most relevant technological processes and features. The Professional range offers motorists a direct equivalent to the original fitted battery and offers the peace of mind that comes with Yuasa’s reputation for reliability.
Professional series batteries benefit from Yuasa’s performance optimised grid technology whereby grid design and composition have been developed to deliver the optimum level of conductivity and grid strength. Harnessing this technology means that Professional series batteries offer a longer service life and superior starting performance compared to conventional lead acid batteries (typically 25% more starting power and almost 40% better battery duration).
Yuasa Cargo is a range of fifteen 12V automotive batteries offering capacities from 110 to 200Ah (at 20h rate) that covers most CV applications including trucks, agricultural and plant equipment and passenger service vehicles. Yuasa designed the Cargo series to manage the increasing demands placed on the batteries by the modern commercial vehicle. Cargo batteries offer market leading performance and, most importantly, peace of mind for vehicle operators.
Batteries in the Cargo range are designed specifically to meet the exacting requirements of the commercial vehicle market. Today’s CV batteries require greater power and cycling ability to cope with the increased array of electrical equipment used in these vehicles – a modern sleeper cab will typically need to run televisions, satellite receivers, microwaves, nightlights and refrigerators among other things. Repeated overnight use of such equipment followed by an engine start in the morning means that it is critical for the fitted battery to be able to cope with these extreme conditions.
Equipped to deal with all situations and environments, Yuasa Cargo HD 12V automotive batteries offer capacities from 135 to 220Ah (at 20h rate) and feature increased cycling capability and longer service life. Resistant to constant vibration, the Cargo HD batteries are designed to cope with the most demanding commercial applications such as vehicles with tail lifts, agricultural vehicles, passenger service vehicles and where vehicles have sleeper cabs fitted with numerous electrical devices.
Yuasa Classic batteries cover specific historical fitments and meet all the original performance requirements set out by the vehicle manufacturers. Owners of vehicles such as Morris Minors, VW Beetles (original models), MGB GTs, London RouteMaster Buses, 1950s delivery vans and similar require batteries of this design and will find the Yuasa Classic range an ideal solution.
The Yuasa Classic range offers 6V and 12V hard rubber designs offering capacities from 56 to 260Ah (at 20h rate) featuring a “heavy grid” design aimed directly at the cyclic requirements of this unique market.
Classic batteries are traditionally designed for specific heavy duty applications. Battery designs are based on thick high density active materials that deliver the ultimate performance for the traditional applications requiring these batteries. Some lower cost alternatives are based on standard automotive plate technologies that are designed for starting power. As a consequence, although the ratings may look similar or even greater, experience will quickly show the reduced life of such products in the field.
The Leisureline range is available in two sizes that cover most leisure and marine applications and the batteries have been carefully designed to offer the maximum number of charging cycles. Battery capacities are 75 and 115Ah and these figures are the true capacity ratings to reflect the optimum performance available from the two case sizes.
Yuasa’s Leisureline batteries have been developed especially for the European leisure market. The company has many years experience manufacturing leisure batteries and has used its extensive understanding of the market to design a battery that can meet the unique requirements of customers in this sector.
